Camaro Z/28 will be resurrected by GM

With GM now out of bankruptcy, the projects that were put on indefinite hold are being re-evaluated for the near future. Motor Trend is reporting that one such vehicle is the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. With the new contracts lower labor costs, GM feels it can price the Camaro low enough to be competitive and not steal sales from the Corvette.

Underneath the hood will be a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 that was found in the CTS-V. Estimates have the power at 556 hp at 6,100 rpm and 551 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm and have the Z/28’s approximately 4,000-pound body being shot to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

This is exactly what GM & Chevy needs – a halo-type vehicle. Something to generate buzz!
